Hanscom's Motel and Cottages

Coming back to Hanscom’s after long days out was a comfort. The setting was peaceful and quiet, and our room was warm, clean, and had what we needed for traveling. The owner was easy to reach and quick to respond. We also got to bring our dog Addie! My husband and I are retired and like taking off-season drives along the Maine coast in the colder months, when traffic is lighter. We stayed January 12th and 13th and used the location for Bar Harbor, Acadia National Park, and a day trip to Machias and Beals to visit Great Wass Island. We had a great trip and were glad we stayed here.

The room was cute, very clean, and everything worked. It seems a good fit for one person or a couple, and could work with a child or two as well. Even in winter, the driveway and cottage entrances had been cleared. Booking online was easy, and the owners kept in touch before we arrived to make sure we had what we needed. We stopped at Arcadia on the way back from the 2026 Polar Blast in Eustis Maine. Bar Harbor was about 10 minutes away, and the Arcadia “winter entrance” took 15-20 minutes to reach. In season, the main Hull entrance and Visitor center are only minutes away.

The cabin was spotless and decorated in a cute maritime style. There’s even a little stove and kettle, which we put to use. My sister and I really enjoyed staying in the lovely cabin in the woods. Each one is a duplex with two rooms, and ours was extremely quiet. Highly recommend!

Having our own parking spot right outside and basically a full kitchen made this a great stop for us and the pup on our drive up the coast. We could put the ice packs in the cooler, settle in, and spend a cozy night inside that felt like home. We loved the little spot and hope to come back for a few more days so we can enjoy more of the property amenities.
