Robbins Motel

The room and bathroom were very clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful. It's close to everything, and the very hot shower worked for our needs. The smoke alarm did go off when we showered, the room was small and sparsely furnished, and the bathroom sink wasn't attached to the wall. Still, you're not supposed to sit on the sink. For a place to sleep and shower, it was sufficient and you get what you pay for. If you plan to spend your vacation in the hotel room, this isn't the place for you.

I booked one of the updated motel rooms and ended up being very comfortable there for the whole week. The bed was comfortable, the new air conditioner and heater worked quietly and efficiently, and the remodeled bathroom had hot water that came on quickly. There was also a new TV and refrigerator. After reading reviews, I was apprehensive and worried I wouldn't like it, but my experience was the opposite. I know plenty of rooms haven't been renovated yet, and this motel is a work in progress. The rates are cheap for Bar Harbor, especially for the rooms that haven't been updated. I expect Robbins Motel will finish the renovation eventually, and rates will then line up with the area's average.

We stayed three nights in an updated room and were pleasantly surprised. It was nice and comfortable, with the usual wear and tear from previous guests, but nothing like the reviews had led us to expect. The staff were super friendly, the location was quiet, and it's a short drive to Acadia. We'd stay here again in a heartbeat.

Sept 2025. I wouldn't have given this place even one star if I hadn't needed to post the review. One star is far too generous. The rooms were awful and smelled of mold and mildew. There were dead bugs smashed on the walls, and nobody had cleaned them. The floors were uneven and felt unsafe, and you had to step up to get into the bathroom. The towel racks and toilet paper holder kept falling off the wall, and the shower had only a hole for a drain. It looked like a bunch of trailers joined together as motel rooms. The pictures online seemed altered to make the place look better. The entrance was so poorly lit that it was hard to see at night, and noise from people walking on the second floor kept me awake most of the night. Staff were rude. The place was disgusting in every way, and you'd be better off sleeping in your car. It should be condemned and renamed Motel Hell.
