Sunnyside Motel & Cottages

A good value for the price. I stayed in a cottage with a handy kitchenette, a small kitchen table, and two Lazy Boy chairs. The rooms were very clean, and the owner was friendly, helpful, and nice. My main gripe was that the WiFi was inconsistent at times. I’d definitely stay here again for a good-value place.

We tried both the motel and a cottage on our Acadia trip. Both were clean, quiet, and comfortable, and the area felt safe. The WiFi was weak, though it didn’t matter much since we spent the days hiking. Helen and Richard were lovely and accommodating. It was about 12 minutes to the Hull Cove Visitor Center and 25 minutes to Bar Harbor, far enough from the crowds but close enough for an early hike. The price was very reasonable for the area, and I’d stay here again.

My wife and I came by bus and spent most of our time in the park without a car, which worked out fine. As of Aug 2023, there was a nearby bus stop. We had plenty of room in Cottage #2, and the beds were perfectly comfortable. The cottages are lovely and close to both Bar Harbor and Acadia. The owners were great, always happy to go out of their way to look after us. Our room was clean and cozy, and the provided pots and pans let us cook our own meals. I’d absolutely return and recommend it to others.

We enjoyed our July stay in a cabin, especially having the AC on hot days. The place is well maintained, and I really liked the couple who run it. When an unexpected family event came up, the woman was willing to be flexible despite the no-refund policy and let us move our dates. We also got lots of helpful activity suggestions when we arrived. The advertised free WiFi didn’t reach the cottages, though. Bar Harbor service is already poor, so without phone service or WiFi we felt a bit stranded and couldn’t watch TV. We could just barely connect if we sat outside in the yard. I’d come back.
