Spark by Hilton Bardstown

The bed felt like a glorified plywood plank, though it served its purpose to some extent. The toilet was hard to flush without feeling like it might break, and the shower ceiling had what looked like patches of killz paint. My coworkers and I couldn't get hot water, even after letting the showers run for 20 minutes. Outside my room at the end of the building, there was a random extension cord hanging from the ceiling. I arrived late with high hopes because the guy at the counter was really nice, and the attendant was pleasant to talk to. The lobby was pretty clean, but things went downhill once I headed to the room. In the morning, there was no staff at the lobby desk, no hot water in the dispenser, and the coffee was so cold and stale it must have been made the night before. For a Hilton brand company, I expected better. A very poor stay.

We stayed four nights and had a poor experience. We're Diamond members, and this was probably the worst Hilton property we've stayed at. Our room wasn't cleaned on day two, so we asked the front desk to make sure it was done the following day. When we returned, they'd only replaced the towels and hadn't made the bed or done anything else. Some things were also missing from the room. We were told they were still transitioning from Hampton Inn, and things like in-room coffee and even ice buckets would come later. Lucky us, staying before those niceties were added. I wouldn't recommend this hotel.

I haven't stayed here. I was just looking for a local hotel while visiting friends and checked reviews for bedbugs. The reviews were helpful, and the place sounds pretty nasty. I don't know why Hilton doesn't revoke their license. It's pathetic for guests to pay for a clean room and get nothing but nastiness. I had that happen once with another hotel chain, and it made me sick too. I don't know how they get away with it. Thank you for the truthful reviews.

The service was fine overall, though we had an unpleasant exchange when we asked to have the coffee urn refilled while breakfast was still being served. This Spark by Hilton can work if you just need somewhere to sleep or are traveling with pets, but compared with other Hilton affiliated hotels I've stayed at, it was underwhelming. I don't think the 1 BR King suite should be advertised as a suite. There's no kitchenette or even a coffee maker, and a very thin wall about the length of the TV seems to divide the bedroom from the living room. The room lighting was horrible, and there was a hole in the bathroom wall above the mirror with wires hanging out.
