Ramada by Wyndham Barstow

My wife and I travel a lot and have stayed in plenty of motels. This one is in our top three favorites. The room was spacious, the bed very soft, and it was quiet. The staff were polite and kind.

My kids thought the place looked like a mansion, and we loved it. The room we had was beautiful and smelled nice, with clean, comfortable sheets and hot water. They even provide fancy soap. Maybe the place has changed or improved since some of the comments I read.

Check that the heating and air conditioning are working before you book a hall for a party. We recently held an event at the Ramada Hotel in Barstow, and the room was uncomfortably hot. The A/C wasn’t working properly, and guests were sweating. We brought fans from home to try to cool things down, but the area where we set out the food was especially hot, and some of it spoiled. While we were setting up the day before, the hotel told us only one side of the hall had working A/C. The adjoining rooms were affected too, and some guests had to go outside and find shade to feel a little more comfortable. I wouldn’t give this ballroom more than 2 stars. They seriously need to update the A/C units if they want to host more parties and events without people complaining about the heat.

I wasn’t in the first room for even an hour. The toilet started running every minute, the lamp and bathroom lights didn’t work, and I found a bug in the bathtub. The woman at the front desk wouldn’t refund that night. First she said it wasn’t refundable, then sent me to whoever booked the hotel, and then said she could refund the remaining days but not that one. Other people were having problems at the same time. I asked for another room since they wouldn’t refund the first night, but the shower in that one was filthy too: the curtain was stained, and the tub had dirt and debris. My coworkers said they had to lay towels in the tub to shower, and several had sheets with pee or sweat stains. The owner’s reply showed me they weren’t interested in fixing these issues, only in how I could get a refund. The service was awful. Don’t stay here.
