Staybridge Suites Columbia by IHG

The rooms were amazing and everyone on staff was lovely. John at the front desk made an especially big impression. Whoever hired him did a great job, he was incredible and is the reason we'll be back. Thank you, John, for being the best part of our stay. We absolutely plan to return!

We left in the middle of the night with my sleeping six-month-old because the situation made us feel unsafe. My sister and her husband were staying here while their newborn was in the nearby hospital's NICU. They'd spent all day there without eating, and when we went to the hotel's Taco Bar, the chicken was gone and the beef was running low. We asked about more and were told, “they cleaned me out.” My mom and aunt set aside plates for my sister and her husband to have when they got back to the hotel. A group of six or seven men who had been drinking made rude comments about us. My sister, who was recovering from major surgery, felt too uncomfortable to eat with us and went to the room. I told the men we'd been through a lot and asked them to think about that before making comments. They kept talking and seemed drunk. My aunt tried to speak with them too, and they argued back and forth. We went to the front desk twice. The first time, the woman there didn't say a word. The second time, she said my brother-in-law had made her feel unsafe and started crying. We were told the men had been staying there for a year, which made it seem like they were favorites and we didn't matter. When I said I felt unsafe around men I didn't know who might be angry and hurt me, I was told, “they would never do that.” It felt hypocritical to portray us as the dangerous ones when we'd only spoken up about their rudeness and hadn't acted violently. At 10 PM the manager called my aunt, accused us again, and defended the men, saying she “knows them.” It was unfair to treat us like garbage just because the hotel gets more money from long-term guests. If you have a problem with another guest, expect to be treated like you don't matter.

Jennifer and Ally were both wonderful when they checked me in and out. The staff were kind, and they helped when I had trouble with the door security. I appreciated having hot water in the lobby, even though there wasn't herbal tea. I brought my own, haha. Breakfast had lots of good choices: different eggs, sausage links, potatoes, biscuits and gravy, baked goods, waffles and a yogurt bar. My room's layout worked well, everything seemed clean, and the bed was comfortable, which hasn't been my experience at a lot of hotels lately. I'm looking forward to staying here again. Thanks for taking care of us cold, tired travelers coming through several states.

Breakfast was wonderful, with fruit and yogurt available, and felt much better than a typical hotel spread. You could tell someone had put care into it. The hotel was great too. I could hear traffic through the night, perhaps because of the direction our windows faced, but it didn't bother my husband. We'd stay again.
