Baymont by Wyndham Batavia - Darien Lake

After a long drive through a rough stretch of snowy, 10-degree weather, I really needed somewhere comfortable to stop, and this place delivered. The shower was clean, the bed was comfortable, and there was room to relax. The hotel was quiet and clean, and the rooms were spacious and well kept. Breakfast had a lot more than I expected: eggs and sausage, waffles, muffins, bagels, yogurt, and other choices. As one person, I almost found the variety overwhelming. The family running the place made check-in easy, fast, and friendly. For a budget stay, it was a lot better than I expected and well worth the price. I’d recommend it.

The bathroom layout was the big drawback for us. It’s tiny, and the sink sits right by the front door, so wet, snowy shoes can send you straight into the bathroom area. That made the otherwise clean room feel dirty in winter. Everything else was great: the renovated hotel was very clean, and everyone was helpful and really nice. Being right by the interstate, with a gas station and Tim Hortons outside, was convenient. Our microwave wasn’t working when we arrived, but someone came to check it within minutes and brought a replacement in case it was needed. Amazing service.

The room was spacious, and the bed and pillows were really comfortable. Check-in was quick, and the hotel looked recently renovated. A pretty good stay.

The room seemed neglected. There were dead bugs left in plain sight, and housekeeping didn’t clean up the messes. They came in without knocking, made the bed, and emptied the bin, but left the actual trash I’d set aside. I also found a Coke baggie between the pullout couch cushions. Then the power went out. When I told the manager what had happened, he asked, “well what do you want me to do about it?” I asked for compensation after all of that, and he laughed, disrespected me, and said, “I’m not doing anything for you”.
