The hotel was closed, even though we’d made a reservation and the 800 reservation line assured us it was valid. My husband and I drove 5 1/2 hours, only to find the doors locked. A utility worker who happened to be in the parking lot told us it had shut down two months earlier. No one had contacted us, and we were extremely frustrated to arrive with nowhere to stay. Fortunately, Best Western came through, and we could still enjoy our anniversary weekend, see Foreigner at Darien lake, and have somewhere to sleep after the concert. I’m extremely disappointed in the Wyndham company and will never stay with them again.

The front desk staff were very nice, which is why I’m giving 2 stars, but the place was dirty and run down. The room was ice cold when I got there and took about 30 minutes to become tolerable. It felt like a gas station bathroom, the kind I’d use only if I had to. Other hotels were sold out, so I didn’t have another option. The mattress slopes to the left, and even the “clean cups” for coffee and water were dirty. There’s a strong smoky smell in the room that they’ve tried to hide. For $60, you get a bed, toilet, and shower, but none of them are nice. At least it wasn’t in a bad area, and I didn’t see bugs. It was winter, though, so maybe wait until summer for the bugs?

The property is old, but management is working on fixing it up. My room was more spacious than others I’ve stayed in, and the staff were nice. The owner came right over with a smile to replace the batteries in the remote. The carpet was brand new, the room and sheets were clean, and the bed and pillows were great. It was quiet, and I slept like a baby.

We landed at the Days Inn in Batavia because our car had a flat tire and unusable spare on the NY interstate, and Batavia was the closest city where the tow truck could take us. It was after hours, the start of the 4th of July weekend, and our options were limited. The tow company’s rules meant we had to stay within 2 miles of the service station where the car had been left. The front desk staff were kind and helpful. They gave us cab information for the next morning and helped us get the best available rate, though it was still WAY more than a place like this should cost. The hotel itself was run down and the room was disgusting. We were exhausted and stuck without a car, otherwise we would have asked for a refund and left. There was mold on the ceiling above one bed, grime on the bathroom floor, scratchy military issue looking blankets, and terribly uncomfortable mattresses and pillows. The A/C unit made a loud noise all night. A room near ours looked like its door had been broken open and left that way, as shown in the pictures. My son said it was the scariest place he’d ever stayed. When the tow company picked us up in the morning, they said they were sorry we’d stayed there. I should have read the reviews, but we were in a pickle and assumed it might be okay because it was a Wyndham property and wasn’t cheap. If possible, I’d avoid this hotel.

We booked at the last minute while traveling because there was nothing else available. We knew it probably wouldn’t be great, but we had no towels or washcloths, and the bathroom was nearly out of toilet paper. The front desk worker brought towels, but they were in such poor condition that we only used a corner of one to dry our hands. We slept briefly and left. The beds were about what we expected. The only plus was that the front desk worker was nice when checking us in.
