The Eldon Luxury Suites

Our booking couldn't be canceled or refunded after an unexpected winter storm disrupted our trip from New York to DC. We called several times, but the hotel and Booking.com kept blaming each other, which was confusing and frustrating. Nobody offered help, compensation, or another booking, so we ended up asking our credit card company for a refund. The lack of coordination and customer service was unacceptable. If you need flexibility and support during an emergency, I'd stay somewhere else.

The rooms at The Eldon are comfortable, well-equipped one-bedroom apartments, and the location makes it easy to get to the convention centers and Capital One Arena. I'd definitely recommend it if you're looking in this area of DC.

The employees were kind and apologetic, and the amenities were solid, but the room staying at 78° for our entire 2-night trip was brutal. We asked several times about the AC and got little room fans. They said it was in winter mode, even though it was in the 80s outside. Opening the windows at night wasn't a good option either: there were bugs outside and no screens, and I didn't want them getting into the room. The WiFi was shoddy at best too. This could have been a four- or five-star stay for us, but not being able to control the temperature cost it those stars.

I really liked the kitchen and was able to make breakfast and lunch there. The staff were super friendly, and The Eldon is very close to the conference center. I couldn't get the WiFi to connect, but using a wired connection worked out.
