The Sherman Inn

The only pleasant part was the nice lady who checked me in. I paid almost 200 dollars for a freezing room that took two hours to warm up, and a mattress hard as concrete. I should’ve slept in my truck. I got no refund, and I won’t be back. As a disabled combat veteran with a bad back, I found their accommodations for disabled guests lacking. There’s no handicap parking or elevator. Their reply that everyone else likes their expensive mattress was rude and uncalled for. I’m not them, and they’re not me. Their comments were especially rude for people in hospitality. I’ll make sure everyone knows not to book here. Do not recommend. Three hours before check-in is plenty of time to walk the 20 stairs and 20 paces to the room and turn on the heat in winter, especially when it didn’t seem like there were any other guests to help. Hmm, wonder why?

We needed somewhere local to warm up from the cold since we’re new to the area, and we loved this very cool old inn with all its history. The owners, Peyton and George, were lovely and super hospitable. Our clean, updated room had easy walking access to a few restaurants and bars. We’ll definitely recommend The Sherman to anyone who visits us. Thank you, Peyton and George!

The place smelled like roach bait, and our room was never cleaned. In the middle of the night I had to scavenge for clean towels, toilet paper, and toiletries. We were also disappointed to find that their German restaurant had been closed for several years, after looking forward to eating there. For what we paid, I at least expected a complementary breakfast.

We loved staying here and would recommend it. The service was great, and the room was very clean. We appreciated the lack of carpet, which made it feel even cleaner. Several good restaurants are within walking distance, and the location couldn’t be better.
