The location is nice, close to the highway and lots of shopping and dining. What bothered me most was the price. At $265 for two nights, or around $130 a night, I expected better. If this had been a $40-50 motel, I’d have expected somewhere run down with little to offer. Breakfast was a problem on both mornings. We were told it started at 7, but there was no food either day and staff said they were running behind. The first morning I waited until 7:45, went back upstairs, then came down at 8:30 to find the food that had appeared had already been eaten. The next morning I waited until 8:30, an hour and a half, and still nothing came out. We went elsewhere to eat both times. We arrived late, and the staff were friendly and checked us in quickly. In the room, much of the wallpaper was peeling, though I didn't care much about that. The bathroom was more concerning: black mold around the shower, a light hanging from the ceiling by electrical wires, a faucet that moved freely on the countertop, and rusty door jambs.

The rooms were spacious and very nice, with comfortable beds. Mine had a balcony, which was a nice bonus. The lobby looked great, my son enjoyed the seating area, and the pool area was nice too. Staff were excellent, check-in was easy, and the elevator was quick. Everything was wonderful.

The hotel gave me 5,000 Marriott Bonvoy points, worth about $30, and nothing more meaningful: no empathy or apology, and no real compensation for my ruined belongings, the clothes I needed for meetings the next day, or the scramble to find a toothbrush, new outfits, and somewhere to stay at 9pm. A week later, nobody had contacted me about reimbursing me or followed up on the distress this caused. I won’t return, and I strongly advise others to avoid this hotel unless they’re willing to risk a disaster with no accountability. Marriott corporate needs to step in. I’m a loyal Marriott Gold member and have stayed at dozens of properties, but my experience at Courtyard by Marriott Fairlawn was the worst. Exactly one week ago, on January 21, 2026, I returned after a long day to find a huge section of the ceiling collapsed after a cracked fire sprinkler pipe flooded the room. Wet drywall, insulation, wood, and pink fiberglass were hanging down, and my clothes, personal items, and medications were ruined. The hotel never contacted me to warn me or explain. Staff apparently used my room as a cleanup base camp, eating Taco Bell and leaving jackets and trash behind. They then haphazardly gathered my things and stuffed them into my suitcase on the sink, mixing my toothbrush and medicines with soaked, damaged clothes. It was disgusting and completely unprofessional. Around 9pm, I went to the front desk in shock. They offered another room, which I declined because the fire suppression system’s water had been cut off, leaving the building unsafe in my opinion, and there was construction noise everywhere. The associate said the owner would call the next morning. He didn’t. I escalated it to Marriott corporate, who asked the hotel to contact me, but still heard nothing.

I travel a lot for work and booked this thinking it was another Marriott where I regularly stay. That was a mistake. First, they put me in a room with a toilet that wouldn’t flush and stained sheets. I asked to switch rooms and got one with a toilet that wouldn’t stop running, stained bathroom walls, lots of mold in the shower, and hair on the sheets. I’d had enough and told them I needed to check out. The woman said she’d make sure I got a refund. There was no apology, but it was late and I needed another room, so I left. It’s been over 10 days, and I still haven’t been refunded. Corporate told me it was being processed and should be done by 10/16 at the latest, but on 10/17 there was still nothing. On my next call, they said the hotel hadn’t followed protocol, started a new case, and told me to expect an email next Wednesday. I tried the hotel, but the first call said no manager was on duty because of a call-off, and to try again in an hour. I called twice more and got no answer. This property shouldn’t carry the Marriott name. The whole operation is filthy and horrible, a disservice to the brand. Don’t stay here. The Fairfield Inn right behind it on the same road is fantastic and costs the same, so book there instead. I wish I could give zero stars, but one is the minimum, and still far too high.

The best part was the ramen place nearby. Otherwise, I wouldn’t stay here, especially with so many other hotels around. Our room smelled, and there was a sock under the couch that wasn’t ours. Staff were remarkably hard to find at check-in, check-out, breakfast, and dinner. Breakfast wasn’t available because of a call-out, and when we waited several minutes in the “bistro” for dinner, nobody helped us.
