Days Inn Bath Hammondsport

The hotel itself needs work. The rooms are outdated, though clean, and the blanket had a big tear. The pool helped wind the kids down at night, but it left your skin feeling greasy. The breakfast area was nice, but they really need a new toaster. The elevator was extra, extra slow, and the driveway pothole that was there a few years ago still needs filling. The staff were super friendly, though. Five stars for them! 😉

The place is dated and could use general maintenance, but if you only need somewhere to sleep, it’s fine. The room was clean and stocked, and smelled okay even though we had a smoking room. It’s pet-friendly too. Front desk staff were very friendly and helpful, and the coffee and hot water in the lobby were a nice welcome late at night.

The walls and rugs need replacing badly. There were holes and stains on nearly every floor and wall. The parking lot was full of potholes, and before we even got inside, we saw a sign saying the pool was closed, which was one of the reasons I booked here. Breakfast was okay, just processed eggs, bagels, and cereal, nothing special. Three of the five employees we saw had a child, spouse, boyfriend, or friend visiting while they were working. I think the hotel is being used as a local shelter for families going through hard times, which is a great service. But people wander around in ill-fitting pajamas, smoke and spit on the ground out front. It makes a bad first impression when you pull up. If you just need a place to sleep, it's okay.

Our stay lasted all of 45 minutes. We checked the bed and found hair and dirt on the sheets, so it looked like the bedding hadn’t been changed. The shower was dirty and had rust stains. One daughter’s room had black mold all over the toilet seat and more mold in the shower. In our other daughter’s room there were bed bugs, hair on the sheets, and the headboard was on the floor. The A/C didn’t work in the rooms, the pool was closed for repairs, and the elevator felt unsafe, so we took the stairs. The whole place felt unsafe, and it was the worst hotel I’ve ever been to. We went to the front desk to demand our money back and leave, and told the girl all of this. All she said was “ok,” and that our card would be refunded in 5 to 7 days, so it must happen all the time. Stay away. I wouldn’t even give it one star.
