Crowne Plaza Executive Center Baton Rouge by IHG

Our stay at this Crown Plaza hotel on Constitution Ave. in Baton Rouge was a horrible experience. At first everything seemed fine, but when we got to the room there was no water, not even any to take medication with. The front desk said they only provide water to special guests, so apparently not everyone is special here. They also didn't clean my room the next day, or the day after. The desk told me it was because I booked through booking.com, and that meant we couldn't get water or room cleaning. I didn't ask to be assigned that room, they gave it to me. Maybe only certain rooms get everything, or perhaps it's race discrimination. Who knows? Only they know. Never again.

The price made me expect more hospitality. Breakfast and water weren't included, and my husband said the server named “Roxanne” was not very friendly when he tried to get breakfast. I liked the stay, but I'm not sure we'll come back.

The service was great, and we enjoyed the restaurant food and room service. We spent a couple of days here for a dance convention. The room and bathroom were clean, the beds comfortable, and the fridge kept our drinks cold, though I wouldn't trust it for food or medicine. The broken office chair was a drawback, and there was no armchair or small couch even though there seemed to be room for one. Besides the bench, the bed was the only place to sit.

The food and basic items at the small lobby shop cost far too much for what you get. The hotel is run down and needs renovations, and the walls are so thin you can hear even small noises from neighboring rooms. When I asked to change rooms, staff said no because the hotel was full for a conference, and they seemed unfriendly and unhelpful. I was put in a “hideaway” room with no window. I didn't realize that when I booked, and I would never have chosen it if that had been clearly disclosed. This was the worst hotel I've stayed at in all my travels. If outdated rooms, thin walls, and poor management and service don't bother you, maybe it could work for you, but I wouldn't recommend it.
