Hilton Baton Rouge Capitol Center

The staff made us feel valued from check-in through departure. Everyone was warm, attentive, and professional. We especially enjoyed the evening reception and the fresh, well-prepared breakfast the next morning. Our room didn’t show the same care. A smoke smell lingered throughout the stay even with the AC on. There was black residue in the AC vents, mildew in the shower, soap scum on the glass, and no hair dryer. The coffee maker was dirty when we arrived, which was unpleasant and disappointing. With such thoughtful hospitality, better cleaning and maintenance could make a big difference. We hope these concerns are taken seriously. When we reported them and shared pictures, no apology was offered.

The staff were so welcoming to me and my elderly dog when I brought her along to a conference. It’s not the newest hotel, but it was comfortable and clean, with a nice bar area and conference Center. The friendly staff really made the stay for me, and the location by the river was great.

After a 30-hour drive, we arrived to find Aliyah at the front desk on FaceTime with a friend. She didn’t hang up when she saw us waiting, and greeted us with dismay and attitude. She misspelled the reservation name, then said nobody with that name was booked. When my boyfriend repeated the spelling, she snapped, “I have her ID right here you don't need to do all that.” Her friend eventually hung up because Aliyah seemed not to realize she was on the clock and shouldn’t be chatting with a friend. I work in hospitality, so I expected more. She told us I’d booked the wrong day and, since the reservation was through expedia, there was nothing she could do. She tossed my ID back and tried to push us out the door. I said we still needed a room because we’d driven all day and couldn’t start looking for another hotel. She got us a new room, and I thought I could sort out a refund for the original booking later. I was wrong. Days later I was still going back and forth with the hotel and expedia, each saying the other was blocking the refund. The room was dirty, with hair on the floor, no complimentary toiletries, and a dingy, old feel for a Hilton. Water cost $3. The bartenders did let us order food 10 minutes before they stopped serving, which is the only positive I can think of. We stayed at many hotels on our road trip, and this was my most negative hotel experience. Best western, holiday inn, anything is better.

Madison made planning my April 2025 wedding reception at the Hilton Baton Rouge Capitol Center easy and accommodated us right through the end. She went above and beyond to make sure everything went smoothly. The room was amazing, the food delicious, the drinks great, and the staff professional and friendly. My husband and I were very satisfied with the personal attention and service. Money well spent!
