Holiday Inn Baton Rouge-South by IHG

I travel to Baton Rouge often for work, and this has become my regular hotel. From the moment you walk in, the smiles and professionalism make you feel at home. The General Manager takes real pride in the place, stays hands-on, and goes out of his way to make sure things are right. You can see that care reflected across the staff. Everyone I’ve dealt with has been friendly, helpful, and accommodating. They remember you and make you feel valued. The hotel is consistently clean, comfortable, and well maintained, which gives me peace of mind when I’m away from home. I can’t say enough good things about the team, and I look forward to each visit. If you’re staying in Baton Rouge, I highly recommend it.

Rae, and I hope I’ve got the spelling right, greeted us with a warm smile and made us feel at home. We were traveling through Louisiana on vacation and stayed four days. The room was cozy and just right, and all the little details made the visit feel special. Rae also handled a tricky situation with another guest so gracefully, which was impressive to watch. The pool felt a bit dated, and the bar wasn’t open because the hotel was still waiting for its liquor license. Those things were beyond their control at the time. We felt well cared for and would happily come back.

There was loud music from a hotel event until 3 am, nobody would clean our room, the sheets were scratchy, the toilet was cracked, and the staff weren’t helpful. We asked about the manager, whom we’d never met, hoping to speak with him on our way out the next day about our concerns. We’d been polite and courteous throughout, so we were confused when the next morning we got a wake-up call and were summoned from our room to meet with him and three police officers he said he’d called as “standard procedure.” They were rude and overbearing and made my wife cry. We felt so unwelcome that we cut our stay short. If I’d caused a guest that much distress, I’d offer a full refund. The company only gave us a partial one. We’ve stayed in cheaper hotels, but none have been as bad as this.

The stay was comfortable and the room rate was affordable, especially for such a large hotel with a convention-style lobby and a bar off to the side. There doesn’t seem to be much around for dinner. Breakfast isn’t free, and it’s $15 for the usual food.
