Fairfield Inn & Suites Houston Westchase

The front desk clerks were friendly and helpful, the shower had strong pressure and lots of very hot water, and the pillows were good. There was a good coffee shop a block away, and the price was very reasonable for our wedding trip. Still, the online photos make the hotel look better than it is. It feels run-down, and the beds were very firm. The beltway nearby meant lots of highway noise, and on the first night a cockroach was in my son's bed when he pulled back the sheets. Pretty gross, even if that's more common in older hotels. I'd be unlikely to come back unless better places were in very short supply.

The staff were fine, just nothing special. I didn't try the amenities since I was mainly there to sleep, and breakfast looked typical. I wouldn't recommend this place and wouldn't return unless I had no real choice. I was on a last-minute trip without many options. My room smelled so bad I had to buy air fresheners, and I'm pretty sure the smell came from the vent. They told me the room was cleaned every other day, but it never got cleaned. The area didn't feel good either. I found someone sleeping in the stairwell, which made me worry about my safety. Also, this is one of those hotels where you can't let your phone or magnet touch the key.

The pictures are outdated and made us think there was a hot tub, but there wasn't one. The weight room had only treadmills and no weights, though there was a weight rack. The TVs were old and outdated.

There was no one at the front desk, and when the power went out we were left without electricity. It was hot, with no air, and the room smelled like mildew and mold. The carpet felt really damp. I also found mold on the shower head and brown stains on the curtains. The hotel is right by a highway. Horrible stay.
