Holiday Inn Suites Houston West - Westway Park

There was confusion over the breakfast that the IHG website advertised as included. We were told at check-in it came with the room, then told at breakfast that it didn't. The assistant manager said this happens often, and eventually we were allowed to eat, but it was frustrating to have to sort out. Staff were somewhat accommodating when asked. We booked during a busy baseball tournament weekend partly because breakfast mattered for our family. The room was clean, which I appreciated, but the bedding was ripped and falling apart. The replacement set was in even worse shape. The vanity and drawers were off track, and the drawers under the TV were damaged too. The overall upkeep felt neglected. The pool raised another concern. One of my son's teammates got a rash after swimming, and there were no towels at the pool or front desk. The kids ended up tracking water through the hotel because they had nothing to dry off with. We won't stay at this location again, though we'll be back in the area soon. The property's condition and inconsistent communication made for a disappointing stay.

My stay at the hotel was great, and the night-shift receptionists were very nice. But my car was broken into while parked on the property, along with three other cars. I chose this place partly because it advertised free on-site parking, and there seemed to be little security around. Hotels can't prevent crime everywhere, but they can take guest safety seriously. They need security cameras covering all four corners of the building. If you're bringing a vehicle or valuables, I wouldn't recommend staying here.

Derrick always remembers my name when I come through the front door, and that makes me feel welcome. Yasmine was really nice and helpful at the restaurant bar. The wings were great, and happy hour prices were very reasonable.

We paid a lot for a room that smelled weird, had ripped blankets, and had loose outlets that wouldn't hold plugs. The shower barely switched from bath to shower, the tub backed up after five minutes, and using it made such a loud noise that I avoided showering at certain hours. The room was smelly, and I seriously almost slept in the car halfway through the night. The pool and hot tub area was nasty and rusting, with paint peeling off every surface, even the floor, which seemed hazardous. The hot tub was only lukewarm. The gym was tiny, and breakfast cost extra despite how much the stay cost. The front desk guy was so sexist my husband noticed it before I said anything. Staff were rude overall. My husband left a bag of clothes behind, and when we called the next morning it was gone. The guy said there wasn't even a note about it in the system. It held half my clothes for our two-week trip, so it wasn't a small bag. I don't know if they threw it out or stole it, but it was a frustrating end to an awful stay. With easily over 100 hotels nearby, avoid this place.
