It makes a difference to walk in after work and be greeted by smiling faces who know your name. I stay here often for work, and it feels about as much like coming home as a hotel can. The rooms are consistently clean, and any request or problem gets handled right away, usually better than I expected. The staff are all kind and accommodating. Dynasty especially goes out of her way to make me feel welcome and looked after, and Miss Creola serves a great breakfast and makes sure I have something to eat when my schedule keeps me from coming down at the usual time. They both stand out for the extra care they give.

We stayed because my husband travels for work, but room 232 was miserable. The traffic from the nearby road woke me early, and the room felt damp and dirty. The carpet was very old, full of holes, and there was a gap in one corner between the floor and wall. Ants were on the dressers by the beds, and I woke up twice with one crawling on me. The cloth kitchen chairs were filthy, the ceiling fan had a thick layer of dust, and the shower soap dispenser was empty. Save your money and stay next door at Home2. It was much cleaner.

The suite layout worked especially well for us: with a separate bedroom, sitting room, and kitchenette, two people with different sleep schedules can have some privacy. Breakfast had the usual hot and cold choices, and on Wednesdays there’s also a manager’s reception. We had a good stay and would return on another road trip. The location is handy for I-10, with decent places to eat nearby. I’ve traveled a lot for business as a Hilton Honors Lifetime Diamond member, and the team here stood out. Staff at check-in and breakfast were helpful and went out of their way to answer questions or sort out requests, even little things like finding herbal tea and making sure the room was ready with what we needed.

I was glad when my stay was over. The lobby is cute and fine, but the rooms felt old and stale, and the one I had looked dated. The baseboard in my room also seemed rotted. If you’re expecting the usual Homewood Suites standard, this place doesn’t meet it.

When I got back to the room that evening, the hair was still in the bathtub, so the cleaning I’d asked for hadn’t happened. I went to the desk again, and the attendant said she’d come up to clean the bathroom herself. Since she was the only employee working and I’d already reported it earlier with no follow-up, I asked for the hotel manager’s name and contact details. As I started to clean the shower myself, I pulled back the curtain and found a used washcloth on top of it. I took photos right away and went back downstairs to tell the attendant. This began on the morning of November 12: I noticed a pubic hair at the tub’s edge just after turning on the faucet, while getting ready to shower. I told Kay at the front desk, and she replied, “I’m not surprised.”
