Marriott Baton Rouge

I've stayed here for years and still think it's one of the best hotels in Baton Rouge. The front desk, bar, restaurant, rooms, and staff all get things right. The four stars are because of the third party parking company. It's $11.95 per night, can't be added to the room, and has to be paid on their website. That's a pain for expense reports and for customers. Please change that system. The parking signs everywhere are hideous.

Michelle, Steven, Darris, and Dedrick went beyond what we expected and helped our conference run smoothly at the Baton Rouge Marriott. The food was great, the facilities stayed clean throughout, and every Marriott employee we dealt with was courteous and professional. We were very happy with the service and location, and we'll use the Baton Rouge Marriott again.

The rooms are nice and the staff is wonderful, but at 4 am I can hear every engine on the freeway from bed. I wish I'd read the reviews and asked for a room away from it. We have to be up in four hours for a funeral, and I'm dreading being tired on top of everything else.

We had to find another nearby hotel just to shower, and they let us clean up and change at no charge after hearing what happened at Baton Rouge Marriot. That kindness stood out after a really poor experience there. We checked in around 4 am, and the night staff offered us a 2 pm checkout. In room 1705 the toilet wouldn't flush when I urgently needed it. My husband, who is an engineer, fixed it himself, but this should have been caught in a routine inspection or by housekeeping. Around 11:15 we tried to shower and found the water ice cold. We told Anna on the day staff, and she offered another room across the hall on the same floor. It had the same problem, so maintenance was called and said it wouldn't be a quick fix. Anna then offered checkout at 4 pm. Downstairs, Derrick Tate told us the issue affected the whole hotel, after we asked about another floor. If staff knew it was hotel-wide and not a quick repair, why offer another room or a later checkout when there was no guarantee it would be fixed by 4? We were driving from Florida and planned to leave at 2. I asked for a full refund because we had to go elsewhere to shower, but Mr Tate still charged us $57 for the cold shower and toilet problem they hadn't addressed. Southern hospitality and compassion still exist, but we didn't find them at Baton Rouge Marriot. Shame on them, especially Derrick Tate and Anna. Their customer service needs work.
