Quality Suites Baton Rouge East - Denham Springs

The staff were professional, and the outside and lobby looked good. But our reserved room had been given to someone else, and the room we got was dark and had several easy-to-fix maintenance problems. The sink had no stopper, the shower handle didn't work properly, and the clothes rack sagged lower on the left than the right.

It was an okay place to stop and sleep for the night, but I'm not sure we'd stay again. The area looked a little less shady in daylight than it did when we arrived after dark, and the hotel itself felt kind of cruddy. Doors slamming along the central promenade made noise and caused a small pressure rattle at our door, so our dog growled on and off all night. The AC also took a long time to cool the room, and my wife thought the tub was a bit dirty. The TV was already on and there was no remote. We could have unplugged it or complained to the front desk, but we didn't bring it up until we were leaving.

We used the pool with our granddaughter on our second trip, and it was clean and enjoyable. This was our third stay in the past 12 months, and the rooms have been clean each time. Before this visit, the mattress was too soft and worn, so we checked this one first. It was firm. We always book a King suite and had room 202 this time. The front desk is friendly, extra towels are easy to get, and the towels are decent, not thin or worn. The shower had good water pressure, and I love the big mounted shampoo and conditioner containers. The middle atrium is interesting, and the place is a great value, so we'll stay again. The entrance is quirky, with a separate drive full of potholes. Breakfast could be better: no yogurt, hard boiled eggs, or fruit, just the usual waffle maker, egg patty and sausage, white bread or bagels, and little muffins. I was happy with cereal and 2% milk.

I was wary of booking after seeing online reviews calling the place nasty, but my stay was clean and quiet, and the price as a choice member was excellent. I arrived around 7 PM on a cold, rainy Friday, and the attendant at the counter was helpful and courteous. They put me in room 201. I checked out at 6:30 in the morning, and the usual Quality inn breakfast was ready on time. If I need a room in Baton Rouge again, I'll stop here.
