Staywell Suites Baton Rouge/I-12

I booked through priceline for a night because it was a last-minute option, about half the price of other hotels, and rated four stars. The staff I dealt with were good, but many people weren't clearly identified as employees. When I went to the office to check out, a woman walked in and asked for my key, and I couldn't tell whether she worked there or was someone from the neighborhood trying to get access. From a distance the hotel looks nice, but up close it doesn't. The mattress was hard and uncomfortable. The shower was okay but old, with barely any water pressure. There was a mini fridge and microwave, but I only saw two outlets, one by the sink and another low down across from the bed with nowhere to set a phone while it charged. There was no iron in the room, though you could borrow one from the office. The lights were oddly spaced, only two were bright, and there was no central light in the main area. The AC worked great and kept the room very cold, which was one of the best parts. It's right off an I-12 exit, and the main road has restaurants and drugstores. I didn't see many guests, and the ones I did see seemed sketchy to me, though I could be wrong. I didn't like the neighborhood. I wouldn't bring a family here; it seems more suited to someone alone looking for a cheap option. I had no problems myself, but I paid attention to my surroundings. I wouldn't come back, even though the price and four-star rating on priceline persuaded me to book in a pinch.
