I was glad to get a full refund when I found that room 117’s damaged door could be pushed open, but I’m unhappy with how the front desk lady handled things. I asked to see another room and explained the problem, but she said it was the only one available, even though she had told me there were two rooms. I didn’t want to stay somewhere I felt my privacy could be violated. I can’t help feeling she has an issue with me, though I don’t know why. Customers should be treated better. If you don’t want my business because I checked a room for bed bugs or roaches, or because I wouldn’t accept a damaged room, you shouldn’t be working at a hotel. The place will lose money. On my first visit, I asked to look at the room before paying, mainly to make sure there weren’t roaches or bed bugs. The woman at the desk told me not to check under the sheets or couch because the cleaners weren’t there, and seemed like she almost didn’t want to rent it to me. I stayed two nights and it was fine. At checkout, a male desk clerk said he’d try to hold a room for me since I planned to return. When I came back, the woman was there and said she only had two smoking rooms. I told her that was fine, and she rented me one.

The owners are really nice, and this is the only pet-friendly place around when I come to town for family events. Still, I won’t be back and will need to find another motel that takes pets. Last year the bed sagged so much in the middle it felt like a trampoline with someone standing beside you. The owner said it was new, which I could hardly believe, and upgraded me to a suite this year because of the problem. This stay was much the same, though: there was no hot water in the shower, only in the sink. The owner offered another room for showering while I kept mine, and someone told me to let the shower run for 20 minutes in case it warmed up. The motel’s appearance isn’t appealing. If you’re okay with pot smoke and guys with Post Malone face tattoos, this place may suit you. I had a bad experience here last year, so the owners’ kindness was the reason I gave it another try.

The room felt outdated, and there was nothing much to eat for breakfast. I travel for nursing work and ended up working in this town, but I won’t stay here again. The whole hotel needs renovating soon. The door didn’t reach the floor, so I could see the hallway underneath, and the top lock was broken. The chair had lots of stains, and the WiFi kept dropping in and out.

They knew the first room was awful and offered to move us to a suite. It was still bad, just nowhere near as bad as the first room. By then I felt defeated, so we toughed out the remaining 12 hours since we’d already paid. I was extremely disappointed with the trip. In the first room, my partner wouldn’t even walk around without shoes. There was graffiti on the headboard and some in the bathroom, the bathtub wouldn’t drain, and the toilet leaked from the back. It was a smoking room, but there was a pile of blunt ashes by the bed when we arrived, so the cleanup had clearly been far from thorough. The toilet and bathtub also had cigarette burns all over them. The website said the pool was “open” and the temperature was 70-84° both nights, but it stayed covered and “closed” the whole time. The street sign even says “pool open.” In the “better room,” there was a dirty diaper with a used wipe right beside it. I had no babies with me, and it made it pretty clear how well they clean before guests arrive.
