The breakfast and rooms are good for the price, and the second shift front desk woman who worked Saturday the 23rd and the night of the 28th was the best, so sweet and friendly. I’m sorry I can’t remember her name, but it starts with “R” and she has cool glasses. The cleaning needs work, though: the tub needed a scrub, there was hair in the sink when I arrived, and the top of the TV needed wiping. When I checked out on the morning of the 29th, the front desk woman didn’t even say have a nice day.

Having a central place to stay for my daughter’s birthday with her friend was handy, since we never had to go far to find things to do. The staff were wonderful, and the girls had fun in the small, fairly warm pool, though it was so heavily chlorinated that you could smell it through the hotel, even at the entrance. The room was in rough shape. There were cobwebs on the ceiling, a lumpy uncomfortable bed, damaged headboards, dried white stuff on the wall by the phone and on the sink wood, a hole in the bathroom wall, and peeling bathroom ceiling. It was also unbearably hot even after I lowered the thermostat from 68 to 60, so I eventually turned it off and we slept without covers in the middle of January.
The location worked well, close to gas stations, food, and chain stores, and the staff were very friendly. Breakfast was hot, well stocked, and had a nice variety. The rate was also great compared with places I checked in Saginaw, where I needed to be. We chose this hotel partly for the pool, and I was mistaken in expecting a hot tub. Still, the pool itself wasn’t heated and was freezing. Even the kids stayed in for only about 20 minutes, so after long days out we couldn’t unwind there. The iron in the room wouldn’t turn on below its max setting, and even then it stayed cool, so I had to go buy one. The room was mostly clean, but the window seals had dirt or possibly mold. The beds are firm, which is just my preference, but the pillows were extremely flat and should probably be replaced.
The price was good, the staff were very pleasant, and breakfast was adequate, though nothing special. My room smelled musty, the carpet hadn’t been vacuumed, and the bathroom needs maintenance. It didn’t meet my expectations, but with some work this place could be worthy.
The staff were fantastic from the minute we arrived, but the room and facilities were in disrepair and felt dirty. The elevator floor was peeling from moisture damage. In our room, the sheets, curtains, and mattress were stained, and the headboard looked like it had lost a fight with a thumb tack. The price was great, though.
