Our Jacuzzi suite was cozy and everything in the room worked. The staff were friendly, and the place felt clean. The continental breakfast, though, was a big letdown. The website described it, mentioned non-guests could pay $12, and it came up at check-in. Since it was served in a restaurant, we expected a decent spread. When we arrived at 8am, we found just a little table with a couple bowls of fruit and one muffin left on a plate. We thought we must have missed something. If breakfast hadn't been promoted, we wouldn't have expected it, but as advertised it felt misleading. A few pieces of fruit aren't worth charging for.

Michael was a great server, attentive and helpful when explaining the dishes. The whole staff greeted us warmly, and the 1911 restaurant has a cozy, welcoming atmosphere that's nice for a quiet meal. The Butternut Squash Bisque and Coq Au Vin Rouge were delicious. Save room for dessert, the Maple Crème Brûlée and Chocolate Soufflé were both melt-in-your-mouth good. I'll be back soon.

Dinner downstairs at the 1911 Restaurant was a highlight. Our corner table faced the fireplace, and the mushrooms with chicken were FABULOUS. We splurged and felt it was worth it. During our two November nights in room 209, in the slow season, the Terrace Inn felt like stepping back in time while still having modern comforts. With few other guests around, it was peaceful and quiet. We took a night walk through the Bay View Association campus, where the Victorian and Queen Ann buildings and homes were beautiful. The history is fascinating, and the place still operates in summer. The staff shared ghost stories and thrift store tips, and we had lovely chats with them. We'd stay again.

The morning desk clerk was rude, and the breakfast has really gone downhill. It used to be good, but now it's hard-boiled eggs still in their shells and donuts. The comforter had what looked like mouth drool on it, and the bathroom wasn't fit to use: the sink handle fell off and the showerhead was so low there was barely room to turn around. I've stayed three times, but I won't be back. Very disappointed.

The whitefish and hanger steak were amazing, though my medium-rare steak came out rare. I wasn't the only table with that issue, so maybe order medium if you want medium rare. The rolls and smoked whitefish dip were delicious, and the service was good. Cocktails and mocktails were nice too. The berry crisp was great, while the carrot cake was rubbery.
