Communication was clear and organized, which made everything easy. This cute retro motel was a perfect base for our Lake Michigan trip. It had plenty of charm, was clean and cozy, and welcomed both our dog and kids. The self-serve amenities were great, and the little motel store was adorable. We'd happily stay again.

I grew up around here and used to drive past this motel, but had never stayed until now. It was comfortable, with a retro feel I really like. The amenities were nice, and my kids had fun playing the games provided. We'd definitely like to come back.

We stayed at Motel Bear Lake on Friday, 5/15, and found a bed bug at home on Monday night, 5/18. I called the owner, Marta, right away. An inspection confirmed it was a bed bug, though there wasn't an infestation at that early stage. Marta responded proactively at first: she arranged an inspection, said she'd refund our stay, and offered to cover half the pest treatment bill. I appreciated how she initially handled an unlucky situation for everyone. Our service specialist said the bug likely hitched a ride to Bear Lake Motel with another guest, then came home with us. By 5/21, Marta said they hadn't found any visible bugs and that eggs could take two weeks to hatch. She then said they would not pay half the treatment cost. We still hadn't received the refund, and she told us to direct any more questions to her attorney. We have a one year old and a two year old, so I'll have our home treated for my family's health and safety. I'm disappointed Marta couldn't help resolve this more amicably, since we are certain we got the bed bugs from her business. Hotels and motels are responsible for keeping guests' stays safe, clean, and pest-free, and should make things right when they fail to do that.

The room was so cozy, and the bed was super comfortable. It smelled amazingly clean as soon as we walked in. The location was convenient for the holidays, and the sparkle in the park near Christmas time was a nice touch. Loved how cute and cozy everything was. Thanks for having us!

The room was clean, comfy, and welcoming, and the amenities room was amazing. I forgot my fan at home, but there were several box fans we could borrow. I'm an introvert and liked being able to text with questions or concerns instead of talking in person. They got back to me quickly, and when I couldn't get into the amenities room, they sorted it out fast. It's now on our getaway list, and we'll probably be back in summer. The only downside was that sometimes it was too windy outside to spark my blunts. They're 420 friendly, with a designated outdoor smoking area.
