We only booked here because most other hotels in Beckley were full. Next time we'd keep driving. The room smelled strongly of stale smoke and dog, and even allergy medicine didn't help with the animal issue. The hotel is supposedly smoke free, but I saw an employee walk into the lobby smoking. The room was dirty too: the bathroom switch was more black than clean, there was old shaving cream and hair on the shower wall, and a used washcloth was left in the shower. The bed was rock hard. Looking into the kitchen on the way to get coffee seemed sketchy, so we skipped breakfast.

The room was nice and the bed comfortable, though there was a stale laundry smell. Breakfast was hot and tasted good, but the choices were limited. It was easy to get in and out, and the location near I-64 was convenient.

It was quiet overnight, which was a plus. Still, I don't see what the Plus is with this Best Western. The room was very basic for the price, and the amount charged wasn't what was advertised online. Breakfast didn't start until 6:30 instead of 6, which was inconvenient enough that we had to miss it with our schedule.

The staff were friendly, the room was clean and comfortable, and breakfast was delicious with plenty of choices. We had a great stay and would come back if we're traveling through the area.

Mandy, the manager, was delightful and gave us excellent customer service. She apologized and brought fresh linen quickly when we found hair and a blood stain on our son's sheets. I appreciated her response, and it wasn't her fault. She deserves a raise or bonus. The rest of the stay had plenty of problems, though. There were paw prints on the dog-smelling elevator floor, the central heater was extremely loud and dirty, and the room was dusty. The TV remotes had food on them, the carpet looked old, and the electrical outlets looked loose. The bathroom door had to be lifted to shut, and breakfast wasn't good. I won't be staying at a Beat Western again.
