Fairfield Inn and Suites by Marriott Chicago Midway Airport

Midway is very convenient from here, but I was disappointed with the stay. The room stayed around 75 all night even though we set the temperature at 62 to cool it down. We also had no hot water when we arrived. The front desk attendant said the boiler needed restarting and it should be fine in about 10 minutes. After waiting more than 20 minutes, there still wasn’t hot water. During the cool shower, some warm water came through, and it finally got hot near the end, after about 45 minutes. I still don’t understand why a hotel boiler would need to be restarted.

The airport shuttle driver was super friendly and helpful. It runs every 20 minutes, starting at the top of the hour. I stayed here for an early flight and got what I’d expect from a Marriott: a clean room, comfortable bed, and friendly service. I didn’t park, but overnight parking is $30.

The front desk staff were nice, and breakfast was decent. But the rooms are dated and had a noticeable smell when I walked in. Parking in the lot comes with a sizable fee, which seems rude given how far this place is from the city. I’d skip it and look for a hotel without a parking charge.

I picked this area partly because it’s near a Culver's, which California hasn’t been blessed with yet. But you can’t safely cross the street to get there. You have to walk a quarter mile in either direction to reach a signalized crosswalk. And the room had a noticeable odor, there was no hot water, and the people next door seemed to be having a super amazing party all night 🤔. My flight was rescheduled much earlier, so I missed the free breakfast I’d chosen this hotel for. Winter comes at the same time every year, so how are you not ready for it? This wasn’t how I wanted to end my vacation.
