Best Western Bellemont Shadow Mountain Inn

We couldn't get help when we needed it. When we asked the remote kiosk about assistance and a possible refund, staff couldn't reach the on-site employee for a long time. They told us to speak to the manager at 0900 the next day, but the manager didn't seem to be there at 9. There was no staff member visibly monitoring the property during our stay, and the elevator didn't require a key card. The hotel seemed mostly empty, and some people in the common areas may not have been guests. Maybe they were, but without staff around it raised safety concerns. At check-in in the early evening, no one was physically at the desk, so we used a video kiosk. The representative assigned us a room but couldn't answer on-site questions or address concerns. The room had old stains and worn towels, hair left in the tub and shower, and a heater that made loud noises as it cycled through the night. Several basics were missing or unavailable: no drinking water for sale or water fountain, empty or broken vending machines, a lobby beverage area that wasn't operating, and a broken ice machine in the second-floor laundry room. The advertised continental breakfast was another problem. We chose the hotel partly because it was listed as starting at 6:00 a.m., but in the morning we were told it wouldn't start until 7:00, too late for our travel plans. Alexis, a morning staff member, was the bright spot. She was kind and helpful, and helped us find a lost wedding ring. She seemed to be doing her best in what felt like an understaffed situation. I usually like writing positive reviews, but this was disappointing enough that future travelers should know. Even if the price looks appealing, the staffing, cleanliness, unavailable amenities, and wrong breakfast time mean we wouldn't stay again.

The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the manager arranged adjacent ones for us, which we were very happy about. I came with my pregnant daughter and her 10 month old, along with Grandma, while we were elk hunting. The price was reasonable, too. The location worked perfectly, about 16 minutes from Flagstaff and 20 from William’s. I don't usually stay at Best Western and hadn't for years, though I've always found it decent. This property was cleaner and better located than the Hilton places I'd stayed at in Flagstaff. Please keep it this way. Come stay here, you won't regret it.

This has become one of my favorite hotels, and I'll definitely return. It's recently remodelled and offers good value, with clean rooms and a clean property, friendly staff, pets allowed, and a complete breakfast. Drinks are available 24/7, which is a nice perk for coffee drinkers. The location is handy for road trips, right off the highway and beside a gas station, fast food restaurant, and a store with most things you might need while traveling.

We probably wouldn't stay again. The shower had weak pressure, almost like using a squirt gun, and traffic from the nearby gas station and McDonald’s brought loud exhausts and subwoofers through the night. Our room was beside the cleaning staff room, and their conversations and nightly work sounded as if they were right there with us. We wanted an early night, but it didn't quiet down until around 10pm. The soundproofing was abysmal. The room itself was decent. Breakfast had fewer choices than at other Best Westerns we've stayed in, though the front desk employee who was there in the morning was friendly. Check-in around 7pm went smoothly, but my wife and I were surprised that the person handling it was a worker outsourced to India, rather than someone local physically at the hotel. We'd pay a little more to stay somewhere in Flagstaff.
