I only needed a bed and shower, so for the price it was adequate. The room was clean and didn’t have any odd smells, apart from pot smoke drifting in from other rooms. It smelled like a Grateful Dead show. There’s no fridge, microwave, or closet, and the only coffee is from a janky lobby machine. Housekeeping replaced the towels but didn’t make the bed. The floor was noisy, with doors slamming and TVs turned up, so light sleepers should bring earplugs. We also ran into a language barrier: when my wife called the desk, the person there told her I wasn’t staying at the hotel.

My mom uses a walker, but we were given a second-floor room. We were also charged extra for a microwave and refrigerator. When we walked into the room, we saw a huge bed bug near the bed and left immediately. We went to the Baymont down the road instead. It had a cheaper rate and cozier rooms, and we’ve stayed there several times without bed bugs. We won’t be back here.

Housekeeping and the front desk staff were very nice, and the location near a few restaurants and a Walmart was convenient. Those were about the only positives during my two weeks here with my three kids. The parking lot and entrance weren’t shoveled well, and the lobby and hallway had a horrible musty smell for about 85% of our stay. The room looked nothing like the pictures. The beds need updating, the walls and floorboards weren’t clean, and the air conditioner was extremely dusty and dirty, though it worked well. The tub was damaged and its worn base dipped when we showered. The mini fridge hadn’t been cleaned properly, the TV signal kept malfunctioning, and one lamp and one outlet didn’t work. The two vending machines barely had anything in them. Police were present a few times during our stay.

The only things going for this place were its location and price, and the low rate shows in the stay. I booked two nights directly on the hotel website for a Michigan football game, but when I tried to cancel the nights I hadn’t used, staff said they couldn’t refund them because I’d booked through a third-party site. I have the emails showing I booked directly. They seemed willing to do anything to charge me as much as possible, including lying. I was told manager Nimesh P. was the only one who could help, but he was nowhere to be found when I needed him. The property has smoke-free signs everywhere, yet cigarette smoke was overpowering in the lobby, hallways, and especially our room. It smelled like people smoked there all the time. Cleanliness was just as bad: there were mold or black spots under the mattress sheets, food all over the microwave, cobwebs and spider webs with spider eggs under the desks and in corners, grime on the walls by outlets and door frames, and an unclean bathroom. If you can, stay somewhere else. Pay more for another hotel up the road, find a B&B, or look for anything else.
