TownePlace Suites by Marriott Detroit Belleville

Brett is a really good man. He treats guests so well and brightens their day when he talks with them. Everyone there is excellent, and it's the best hotel I've ever visited. The staff are incredible.

They have two BBQs, a free spice box, and a really nice patio. Contractors working in the area tend to stay here, but as a woman visiting for one night, I didn't mind having about 30 big brothers around. I felt very safe.

Do NOT book here. My daughter and a few of her friends were staying with me for her birthday, and less than four hours after we came back from dinner, a friend of hers threw up in the lobby trash can because her stomach was upset. The front desk worker called the police. Three officers came and said the worker wanted us to leave. When I asked what the real issue was, she ignored me and asked the officers to put us on the no trespassing list. They refused and told me to call corporate and report her. The staff were VERY unprofessional and racist.

The room stayed uncomfortably hot the whole time, and I couldn't sleep even though it was supposed to be air conditioned. I set the A/C to its coldest setting in the evening, but the room got hotter as the night went on and reached 76 degrees by 6am. The Marriott motion sensors on the thermostat seem to be the problem. I know the local teams aren't responsible, but something needs to be done about these thermostats at Marriott. It's getting ridiculous.
