Super 8 by Wyndham Waco North I-35

The desk clerk was awesome, friendly, and very helpful. I use a wheelchair and needed a downstairs room, and she had one available. It was clean, with clean sheets, pillowcases, and blankets, and I saw no signs of bugs or critters. The room looked nice, but it was so small. I barely had space to get around one side of the bed from the door, and had to squeeze my wheelchair between the bed and dresser. I couldn’t get into the bathroom to reach the toilet and shower, which made going to the bathroom very difficult. If you use a wheelchair, call to ask whether they have a bigger room. We had a single queen. We didn’t eat breakfast, so I can’t comment on it, but there’s a Mexican restaurant next door with the best breakfast in town. The breakfast burritos are huge! We enjoyed our quick one-night stay and I’d return, but I’ll definitely get a bigger room if one’s available.

The place wasn’t all that bad, luckily I only had to stay for 10 hours, and they did allow early check-in. But there were roaches and ants, the smoke detector was missing, along with the furniture, clock, and soap. Water kept dripping from the shower, paint was peeling off the walls, and there were random screws in the walls. Truck parking was difficult, to say the least. There’s no turnaround, so I had to block the frontage road to back in my semi.

The room had been updated and was kept at a good level of comfort. The hotel is near a Walmart and QT for late-night necessities. What really stayed with me, though, was how Savan remembered me even with other guests around. That might not matter to everyone, but it meant a lot to me. Savan has great customer service.

The location is convenient, the front desk lady was nice, and there was fresh hot coffee in the morning. The sheets and beds were clean. We didn’t get robbed or stabbed, either. Still, the property is on its last legs: the outside was dusty and dirty, there was no bedside lamp, and the smoke alarm had been ripped off the wall. Stay here only as a last resort before sleeping in your car.
