Motel 6 Bells, TN - Brownsville

I like a place that's simple and clean, and this was both. The king bed left plenty of space in the room, and the building seemed fairly new. Our coverlet did have a cigarette burn, but the room itself was clean and didn't smell of smoke or an overwhelming amount of disinfectant. I also liked that breakfast wasn't included. At places that offer it, the cost is part of the room charge, and you don't always know what you'll get.

The owners seemed very nice, and the room was as clean as the pictures. I loved the wood floors, and it smelled better than any motel room I've stayed in. The bed is firm, so keep that in mind, but for an overnight stop this would be my pick.

The place looked nice and was very clean, but I won't stay here again. The desk clerk, the same woman late at night and in the morning, was rude and curt to me and another woman in the lobby. There's a gas station beside the hotel and almost nothing else nearby. Even so, people were hanging around the parking lot, and it made us feel unsafe. We kept checking the window to see if anyone was near our vehicle. The next morning, workers were trimming bushes with a chainsaw right beside the lobby and the stairs I wanted to use. Since I was traveling with young kids and a dog, I wasn't going to take them past a chainsaw left on the ground. I used another staircase and went to check out alone. It may be clean and inexpensive, but that wasn't enough to make me want to return.

For $45, this was an extremely nice hotel, and the beds were so comfortable I was surprised. Best budget hotel I've stayed at. The gas station next door also had the best freshly made fried chicken I've ever had. My only gripe was that the towels needed bleaching.
