Home2 Suites by Hilton Charlotte Belmont

The room was clean, roomy, and comfortable, just what you'd expect from a Home2, and the staff were friendly and helpful at first. But the bed was awful, like a summer camp bunk, and felt years past worn out. I was there two nights for work. The next day they texted to ask how things were going, and I told them plainly about the bed. I got no response at all, not even an apology or an offer to help. I usually hear back through their text system. Choose somewhere else unless you don't mind feeling like you're sleeping on the floor.

For nearly 12 weeks, my family and I stayed at Hilton Home2 Suites Belmont while a plumbing leak at home was being repaired. The housekeeping staff were excellent, hardworking, and very kind, and our room was clean when we arrived. Unfortunately, that's where the positives ended. We were told at check-in that long-stay guests would get housekeeping three times a week and asked which days suited us. It never happened consistently. Our room was repeatedly skipped or delayed because of staffing shortages, with check-outs taking priority. That's a management issue, not the fault of clearly overworked cleaners. The hotel also often lacked enough linens for all its rooms. Staff sometimes asked guests to hand in used towels so more could be washed, and kitchen cloths and towels sometimes ran out before reaching our room. In December, a Hilton brand inspector visited. Management seemed to know in advance because cleaning and painting suddenly picked up. Breakfast sanitation concerned me too. Usually there was one shared gallon of milk for everyone. The day before the inspector arrived, they switched to individual bottles, then went back to the shared jug a few days later. Management called that a coincidence, which left me questioning how consistent the sanitation standards were. The hotel appears to cater mostly to transient workers. That may suit you, but if you expect consistent Hilton standards, I'd consider the Holiday Inn Express or Fairfield Inn in Belmont instead.

Stefan and Amiri were wonderful, quick to help, and eager to bring replacement bedding when we found dirt on the sheets and blankets. Because rooms were limited, we got a suite for the price of a studio. The hotel was nice, with good amenities and a great location, and the staff were great overall. We did have two bad moments overnight: our neighbor's TV was blaring, and a staff member tried to enter our room at 11:30 p.m. When we reported the noise, the two women on duty said they hadn't heard it but called the neighbor. The volume didn't change much.

I searched for quite a while for a decent place to stop midway through a road trip, and was really impressed with this choice. The room was enormous, and check-in through the app was easy. The mattress was old and springy, and breakfast choices were somewhat limited, but for the price I'd still give it five stars. I'd stay again.
