Home2 Suites by Hilton Beloit

The towels and toilet paper are so rough you might want to bring wet wipes or something. Breakfast was just okay, and the pool room was very humid, so if you have asthma, bring your inhaler. The whirlpool was warm rather than hot, though that may be better if you’re worried about kids or a sunburn. The hotel was nice, and the front desk staff were friendly and helpful.

Everything else about the hotel was great, but the pool had so much chlorine that our eyes burned and my kids couldn’t breathe comfortably. The heat was set to 90, which made it worse. They need to use less chlorine in the pool.

I stayed at Home2 Suites Beloit, WI with my two trained service dogs, both under 5 lbs and trained to help with my documented disability. The experience was humiliating and stressful, and I believe it was discriminatory. At check-in, staff told me I’d have to pay a pet fee despite the dogs being service animals. They asked more than the two questions allowed under the ADA, and the front desk staff and manager were dismissive and accusatory in front of other guests. Even after I explained my legal rights, I didn’t receive a meaningful apology. After my stay, owner/manager Roy Ward called me personally and screamed at me. The call felt hostile and intimidating, and I have a recording for my records. I first posted a review under an alias for privacy, but the hotel had it removed, saying there was “no record of that guest staying here.” I know the hotel knows which guest wrote it. In my view, the attempt to charge a pet fee, the excessive questions, the public treatment, the lack of an apology, the call afterward, and the removal of my review all point to discrimination and retaliation. Future guests with service animals shouldn’t have to go through the same thing.

The hotel was quiet and clean, and breakfast had a good selection. There’s food and shopping within walking distance.
