Chalet Motel

The other staff members we dealt with were kind, and we appreciated the coffee in the room and the complimentary shampoo and conditioner. But the receptionist wasn’t rude exactly, just not welcoming, and there were no visible WiFi instructions or codes. We booked a single-bed room and got a twin instead, with the strange instruction not to use the other bed. The room felt neglected and outdated, with a musty smell that seemed covered up with strong air freshener, leaving it stale and perfumed. The carpet by the bathroom was damp, there was a hair in the bed, and the faucet kept dripping, which made it hard to relax at night. Out of all our stops on our U.S. road trip, this was the biggest disappointment, and it wasn’t even the cheapest.

A basic, inexpensive motel with nice staff. You get the essentials and not much else, but the price is extremely good. :)

Never staying here again. The room smelled bad and was disgusting, there was mold and bed bugs, and my family got very sick after just 3 days. The manager and employees were rude, housekeeping and regular service weren’t being done, and there were shady people around. They don’t seem to care about the people staying there.

My friend and I stayed in Room 2 the weekend of 1/3-1/5. We found a bedbug crawling over the pillow when we woke up, caught it in a bag, and showed it to the front desk agent. He moved us to another room, but the sink and toilet there wouldn’t drain, so we couldn’t use the restroom. At checkout we asked for a refund, and he refused, saying the motel didn’t have bedbugs. I took a photo of the bug, which looked pretty clearly like a bedbug, but judge for yourself. The agent said, “Oh, well, when it rains, the bugs just come inside.” Sir, no. He told us to email the owner, but our message to the address on the website bounced. When we came back to get the right contact details, the agent said the motel didn’t have an email address. He refused to call the owner, but eventually gave us a working email. The owner first said he’d look into the bedbug issue and our refund request, then didn’t respond for six days. As we were leaving, we saw another party checking into the room we’d reported for bedbugs.
