This was my second visit, and I spent a magical week here for an artist retreat and local paint-out competition. The staff treat guests like new best friends, and clearly think of one another as family. The neighborhood is quiet, the beds are comfortable, everything was clean, and the food on site was delicious. The historic building has beauty and charm throughout, with easy walks to the marina, town, and shore. Prices are reasonable, too. I stayed in the Commandant’s Quarters, a large main-floor room with a jacuzzi tub and sauna. A few steps lead up to the entrance, and being near the street made it easy to reach my parked car each day. I loved the morning light and the sense of community when the cafe was busy. The front lights and cute shutters mean the room never gets completely dark, though it didn’t bother me. The TV might be hard to see from the bed, but there’s a sofa and rocking chair closer to it. I also appreciated the mini fridge with a tiny freezer, microwave, and in-room Keurig.

We booked the courtyard and all seven rooms for our one-year wedding anniversary party of 60, and the whole event went smoothly. The Inn team was communicative, flexible, and supportive while we planned everything. They also suggested local dessert, rental, and photography vendors, and those businesses were all great to work with. The owner and staff felt like real partners throughout. We loved working with them.

I live nearby and stayed at the Inn after a flood emergency in my apartment. Tracee gave me such a warm welcome, and they let me check in early. I also loved the meals at the Cafe and the whole atmosphere of the Inn and its surroundings. The staff are all wonderful and go out of their way to help. It’s an easy walk to every shop and restaurant on First St. I think it’s the best place to stay around here, and although I’m local, I’d like to return for a mini getaway when I can.

I planned to stay one night, then extended for another because of the welcoming service and homey feel. The gardens were lovely, and breakfast is included, with a cafe right on site. It’s a beautiful historic inn that felt like a perfect little break I hadn’t realized I needed. The Commandants Room has a great sauna and tub, so I’d recommend booking it if you enjoy a sauna. There was jazz music on Friday evening just outside the window, but it ended by 8, and wine tasting on Thursday evening. I really loved my time here and hope to come back to the town for more relaxing days. Thanks for a wonderful stay. -Ali

We’ve returned to this inn several times for romantic getaways, and the innkeeper is always kind and welcoming, going out of the way to make the stay lovely. There’s an attached cafe with delicious avocado toast. They often offer early check-in, which is a nice touch.
