Candlewood Suites Bensalem - Philadelphia Area by IHG

I’ve been traveling for over 15 years and am a loyal IHG member, so this stay at Candlewood Suites Bensalem was a real disappointment. The hotel was generally clean, but we found a long, curly hair on an unused towel. No one in my family has long hair. We’d specifically asked for a quiet room away from the elevator, yet got the room right beside it and heard the elevator constantly. After arriving late and exhausted, I asked for a late checkout at about 10:50 a.m. The desk staff said they don’t offer late checkout at all, a policy we hadn’t been told about beforehand, so we had to rush out within 30 minutes. I’ve stayed at other Candlewood Suites locations and never run into this. It felt like a complete lack of service for an IHG property. The stay fell short on comfort, service, and recognition of IHG members. If you’re a light sleeper like me, try to avoid a room near the elevator.

We loved the bed so much that we tried to buy four king pillows. Housekeeping had none left, but said to contact Sherry ( Housekeeping Manager) will do.

We moved here while waiting for our house and have been here over a month. The staff have been awesome and really accommodating. Housekeeping does a wonderful job, and the front desk is always ready to help. I regularly see maintenance staff out cleaning, too. No complaints from me.

The morning staff were friendly and helpful, which took the edge off the night attendant’s rude manner. After a long drive, that was a rough welcome. We stopped for one night on a road trip, and the hotel was adequate for sleeping before moving on. The room cleanliness was the bigger problem. There was a pair of pants left on the bathroom floor, clearly from a previous guest, and it made us wonder how well the room had been cleaned. We were tired and it was late, so we stayed rather than look elsewhere. It did the job as a quick stop, but the housekeeping and inconsistent service make it hard to recommend. Better attention to detail would help.
