I booked ahead by phone with a man and explained that I needed a standard room for one night. I said I might reserve another night if there were no issues. When I arrived, it looked like some reconstruction was underway, and the place clearly needed it. In room #103, there was a slight smell, and the floor didn’t look clean for a renovated room. There were feces on the bathroom floor and traces smeared across it. I went back to complain about the newly renovated room, and the front desk staffer moved me after checking that another room was clean. That room had no desk chair and was missing toiletries, including facial tissues, shampoo, conditioner, and lotion. The bed linens and mattress were comfortable, though. The next morning I went to check out, but nobody was at the desk for nearly 20 minutes. I called out several times, walked to the end of the lobby and looked down both corridors, and knocked on the laundry room door. No one came until I shouted louder than usual, and a maintenance person I’d met before appeared and asked what was wrong. I explained that no one was available to check me out. He also knocked on the laundry room door and got no answer, and didn’t know where “Jess” was. Then she suddenly appeared and asked what was wrong. We got into a confrontation. She said she’d just been up the hallway and was on her way back. I don’t like being called a liar when she knew she was wrong. The maintenance man had given me the number to call, and I told her I’d even tried the phone in the doorway, with no answer. This service was unacceptable. I told Jess and the maintenance person I’d contact corporate. This will be my last reservation at the Bensalem extended stay.

Traffic from New York was awful, and after working all day we arrived at Bensalem around 9 p.m. last weekend needing nothing more than a bath and a bed. Christine made check-in really pleasant. We ordered pizza and had it delivered to our room, and when I went downstairs in the middle of the night, Melissa was kind and helpful. The service was excellent.

The shower pressure was so low it made showering uncomfortable. The room was acceptable otherwise, but the renovation looked unfinished, the furniture was old, and there was a stale smell in both the room and common areas. There were no dishes, cookware, or coffee machine in the kitchen. We later learned guests have to ask the front desk for these, but no one explained that at check-in. The desk staff often seemed indifferent and weren’t very helpful with questions. Laundry was inconvenient too: machines take 25-cent coins, there’s no card payment, and detergent isn’t sold, so you have to bring your own. The back doors didn’t work reliably with the key card, and the vending machines sometimes took money while leaving products stuck. The stay was okay but uncomfortable, and the hotel needs better service and maintenance.

During a very difficult time in my life, the staff at Extended Stay made me feel cared for and comfortable. I’ll always be grateful, especially to Michelle. She greeted me with a smile each day and went out of her way to make sure I had what I needed. Her kindness, respect, professionalism, and genuine concern made a world of difference when I needed it most.

I rarely write reviews, but I want other people to know what this was like. The front desk and housekeeping staff were friendly and caring, always talking and smiling. The manager, though, treated me very differently. For months, a family with a toddler upstairs let the child run, jump, and stomp over my head. It kept me from enjoying TV or taking a nap in the room I was paying for. The manager did nothing to resolve it. She later claimed she had offered me another room, but that isn’t what she said. She said she was going to offer me another job. I walked away. The family had asked several times to move and was told there were no first-floor rooms. I was on the first floor and saw rooms become available, and the other guest saw them too. He knew how bad the noise was and basically admitted they couldn’t control their child. The manager only brought up the 10 o’clock noise nuisance rule after I complained one day. That meant I was expected to put up with the noise until 10. I asked what I was supposed to do in the meantime, accept constant noise overhead or leave the room I paid for? She said she wasn’t saying that, so I asked what she was saying and walked away. A couple of days later I asked again for help. She said she was going to offer me another job. The regional manager acted like she was checking whether another room was available, but did nothing. The noise continued even after they spoke to the family. I contacted corporate, but they did nothing beyond contacting the manager and taking her word that she’d asked the guests to be considerate because someone was below them. If my situation had been different, I would have moved out sooner. The hotel also let the elevator stay out of order for about two months. Exit doors are left open, anyone can walk in, people drink and smoke weed outside, and there are no outdoor security cameras. From my perspective, the manager is a poor problem solver and lets too much go on. It’s not worth the money for an extended stay. It might be okay for a day or a weekend, but I wouldn’t recommend staying longer. This was a terrible experience.
