Hampton Inn & Suites Philladelphia/Bensalem

A good location between Bucks county and Philly, and it was quiet during our one-night stay. The elevators were quick and breakfast was decent. There’s a microwave and fridge in the room, plus a work desk and quite a few drawers. Coffee is available in the lobby all day and night to cut down on single-use plastics. There’s also an outdoor pool that requires wristbands, and snacks and drinks in the lobby.

The bed was comfortable, the shower pressure was good, and breakfast was good too. But the room was dirty and noisy, with hair in the shower, on the bed, and on the towel rack. I told the front desk lady I’m a light sleeper and asked for a top-floor room. She put me up there, but it faced the road right above the hotel entrance, where music plays through an outdoor speaker. My first stay at a Holiday inn express was disappointing overall.

The front desk was extremely kind and hospitable. My room was clean and comfortable, and the complimentary breakfast was pretty good. There’s a clean weight room for anyone who wants to exercise, two large flat-screen TVs in the bedroom and living room, wheelchair-friendly access, and good parking. The one-day price was reasonable, and I’d come back.

I looked at three rooms when I checked in, and all were dirty. One still had the same sheets, and I found pee on a toilet seat, pubic hair, and pee around the base of the toilets. The manager gave me a cloth and spray so I could clean the room myself, then took $50 off. The hallway smelled strongly of pit, and the odor was coming into my room under the door. I wouldn’t stay there again, ever.
