Betsie Riverside Resort

We had a much nicer stay here than we would have in a hotel. The cabins were clean, had Wi-Fi and A/C, and were right by the river. There was also a clean pool house with a tub. Honestly, what else do you need? You won't regret choosing this over a hotel.

Taking our whole family out on the river to fish this time made such a difference. I tried salmon fishing for the first time and couldn't believe how much fun I had. We also spent time at the pool, spa, and playground, and then had a hard time leaving both the river and our vacation. Chris and Misti were attentive and helpful throughout, and we're already planning a longer stay next year. Thanks to them for helping make it such a fun experience. Hope to see you soon! My husband had fond memories of coming here as a kid with his family, back when it had a different name and different owners. After our daughter was born, we came to revisit those memories and stayed in Cabin 3 in 2022. It was one of the single-room studio cabins, and worked fine with a one-year-old. He went fishing while we spent time around the property or visited nearby towns for the scenery. We loved it and knew we wanted to return. We'd been busy buying and fixing up a piece of property, which takes time and money, but finally made it back this year. This time we booked Cabin 8 for a week at the end of September and start of October, with a separate bedroom now that our daughter is four. Somehow, we enjoyed it even more.

We were there at the end of fishing season, when the resort had lots of fisherfolk around, and they were pleasant neighbors. My husband and I wanted a quiet, simple weekend, and BRR was just right. Cabin 9 is only steps from the indoor pool. The pool and hot tub were spotless and well kept, as was the cabin. The kitchen had plenty of cookware, utensils, cutlery, and glassware. The bathroom towels were fine, and I was pleasantly surprised by the premium toilet paper. The hosts were friendly and helpful.

We tried kayaking on the Betsie River from the camp and had a great time, but I wouldn't suggest it to beginners. If you've kayaked before it isn't especially hard, though there's a lot of maneuvering that could be tough for someone new to it. The indoor pool was lovely, especially for spending a couple of hours on a rainy day. We also found restaurants and a grocery store nearby, which was handy for getting food. The owners were very friendly and took extra time to answer the kids' questions about local rocks. We had a wonderful stay.
