Berkeley Inn

I was afraid to sit on the bed because I worried it might have bed bugs. The room was dirty and gross, and the whole experience felt traumatic. We couldn’t last an hour because of the smell. It was supposed to be a non-smoking room, but the cigarette smoke odor was so strong I nearly threw up. It stayed on our clothes all night, like that Seinfeld episode about the BO. Even though we were there for less than an hour, the hotel wouldn’t refund our $85. Worst hotel I’ve ever been in, and I’ve stayed in some doozies. I’d give it zero stars if I could.

The room was quiet, with good TV channels, plenty of towels and hot water, and the price wasn’t bad. The cover was pretty, but had a burn hole even though the room was non-smoking. There was hair in the sink and tub, shoe prints in the tub, and cans, bottles and an old hair clip under the bed. The table and setup were weird. They definitely need to clean better.

It’s not fancy, but I felt very safe here and was treated warmly and efficiently. The place looked and smelled very clean, and there was always a free spot in the parking lot. It’s convenient to everything, and the room has a fridge and microwave. I recommend Berkeley Inn if you’re on a budget.

My flight was delayed, so I arrived late to check in. The front desk said they’d already sold my room, even though I had prepaid the full amount for 5 nights. I was stranded and had to find a hotel at the last minute. They also said they would charge me for the first night, even though I couldn’t stay there. I filed a complaint. Don’t use this service. Go with a big hotel chain instead. All major chains allow late check-ins and won’t sell your room.
