People are smoking marijuana in guest rooms, and the smell comes through the hallways into other rooms. That’s not acceptable for a place that’s supposed to be non-smoking. Bathrooms and other shared spaces are regularly occupied for long stretches by people who aren’t staying here. There are constant odor problems, and actual guests have trouble using the facilities. This is about basic rules and management. Right now, the rules aren’t being enforced.

We’ve been members since '98, and the Y is such a bargain. Shop around and compare. They keep adding new equipment rooms and classes.

The rooms have been renovated, and the property is focused on short-term stays and student housing.

I hadn’t realized they offered temporary housing at a discount, with gym access if you have a membership.

A nice place if you’re on a budget, and who isn’t? The location is central downtown, just one block from Berkeley BART station. Lots of nice people here. The staff work hard to keep the lobby and bathrooms tidy. Maria at the front desk is amazing, and Joel on evenings is great too. Much appreciated.
