Marina Inn

For one night in Berkeley, I just needed somewhere to sleep, and the Marina Inn was perfect. It’s clean and affordable, and the front desk staff member was very friendly. The rooms are smaller than average, but had what I needed: a TV, mini fridge, microwave, desk, plenty of closet space, and a comfortable bed. It felt cozy, and I’d stay again if I return to Berkeley.

I accidentally booked the wrong date through booking.com and needed a room that same evening for two people. I called the Inn directly, explained what happened, and the staff arranged a room for us at the last minute. Marina Inn Berkeley is 2.1 miles from UCB. They gave us a tidy, clean bedroom, and the stay was very pleasant. I’m grateful they helped us out. Thank you.

Everything else was sold out for parents weekend, so I took a chance on this place and was glad I did. I hadn’t stayed in a motel since probably the 1970s, which felt a little strange, but this one was clean, quiet, comfortable, and felt safe. Check-in was very friendly, and the bed was comfortable. The setting feels a little forlorn when you first pull in, but University is just off a pleasant residential neighborhood, with shops and cafes a few blocks away in either direction. It’s a 15 minute bus ride to campus, with the stop less than a block away. The price was right and parking was free. I’d stay again.

The room was very clean, and the service was great. The woman at the front desk was polite and really helpful. It was still super cold, even with a wall heater. The rooms and common areas were very clean, and it was quiet. The area felt a little ghetto, but manageable, not too bad.
