Residence Inn by Marriott Salinas Monterey

The suite was great, especially the fireplace, and I really enjoyed my stay. Breakfast waffles were good, and the price felt quite reasonable for what you get. The staff were friendly and helpful, particularly Vincent.

Once we finally got a room, it still wasn’t tidy and had bits of litter left in it. We’d already waited more than 40 minutes at 8 PM, with no update or warning, and there were plenty of other guests waiting in the hallway and lobby for rooms too. This was unprofessional and showed no respect for guests’ time. It wasn’t even basic hospitality, let alone Marriott standards. Worst stay I’ve had in a long time.

The cigarette and marijuana smell was constant around the property, especially by the entrances where people often smoked. In our room, the AC unit made a loud, disturbing noise that made it hard to relax. My husband was here for work and I came with him. I’ve stayed at many Marriott properties for business, including in Mexico, and this was the worst one I’ve experienced. The hotel looks old and poorly maintained. It needs more cleaning, and the sheets and towels are extremely worn and should be replaced. It didn’t meet the standard I’ve come to expect from Marriott.

Jasmine, Hope, Linda, Abidel, and the rest of the Residence Inn staff made this a great stay. Everyone worked hard to look after us and kept checking that my family and I were comfortable. The staff here are awesome. Thank you!
