Bethesda Marriott

My new room was excellent, with no cleanliness or wear-and-tear issues, and Samantha handled the problems I ran into very well. My high-floor Executive King was too close to the elevator, with noise and vibrations, and there was a large, saturated bag of rotten food in the mini fridge. I was offered a small-fee upgrade to a one-bedroom suite, but its AC was broken and blew hot air on Max Cooling. Maintenance confirmed within 25 minutes that the issue affected the whole side wing. Samantha then found me another Executive King away from the elevator, which is part of the presidential suite, and gave me a substantial discount. She was the best hotel manager I’ve encountered, professional, polite, and very helpful. My cousins were also staying there with their 103-year-old great-grandmother and had asked for a handicap room with a roll-in shower. None seemed available at first, so Samantha went with them from room to room to find a suitable option. They eventually got an accessible suite at no extra cost. I was greatly impressed with how she put things right, and hope management recognizes her dedication to guests and the hotel.

I’d choose another Marriott location next time. The room amenities were typical, but security was a big concern for me: the side entrances from the parking lot look like they need a key, yet they’re open around the clock, and the elevators don’t require a key either. The Marriott website photos are somewhat misleading because only parts of the property have been renovated.

Our room was exceptionally clean, with the best water pressure we’ve ever had, even at home. They’d also left an HDMI cable ready for guests to use with their devices. Marcus at the front desk was especially accommodating with our early arrival, and the hotel has plenty of amenities, including an in-house restaurant and gym. There were so many food choices nearby we could barely decide. We had an incredible stay, would absolutely recommend it, and will return.

Richard at the front desk had such a calm, kind manner when I arrived, which helped after my long drive from home, eight hours away. My husband had accidentally booked through a sketchy third-party hotel, and Richard quickly helped us work out how to fix it. He and his manager Samantha were incredibly patient and helpful. They treated every guest kindly, and Samantha was just as supportive of her staff as she was of guests. I was surprised when they greeted me by name at the desk. They made the place feel like a home away from home and eased my worries, to the point that I wished I could stay longer. The hotel itself was beautiful. My spacious king room had been newly updated, with a layout I loved and lots of lighting options. It was the cleanest hotel I’ve ever stayed in, and the shampoo and conditioner smelled so good, with an Aveda vibe. My daughter’s 8th grade class also stayed on the third floor for their Washington DC trip, and the rooms were great and the hotel accommodated them well. We’re heading back to Ohio tomorrow, but if we return to DC, we should definitely stay at Bethesda Marriott.
