Bethesda North Marriott Hotel & Conference Center

The food at our event was good, especially the delicious jambalaya pasta, and the woman serving breakfast this morning was very nice. But this was definitely not the best Marriott. I canceled my second night, even though I had back-to-back reservations and an upgrade for that night. They weren’t going to honor the upgrade for both nights or my Platinum status. I also told a staff member I’d found parking elsewhere, but they still charged me, so watch your bill. With a large event going on, they also tried charging friends who weren’t staying there for parking. It was a mess. The bacon wasn’t Marriott bacon, just tasteless, and the M Club has no hot evening snacks on Saturdays or Sundays, though they charge the same as on other days. I raised the issues at the front desk and got no apology or response.

Gifdee was awesome as our housekeeper during the Leadership Conference. Every day the room looked as if we’d just checked in. The hotel is beautiful, the elevators are fast, and the staff were welcoming and patient. No complaints!

We got to the hotel from the airport at 12:00am, and the bathroom was already very dirty. The toilet had poop stains and looked used, there was toilet paper in the garbage, and someone else’s hair was on the floor. The room hadn’t been cleaned properly. Cleaning staff came at 9 am while my kids were still asleep, then nobody came back during the day or early afternoon. Before we left for our event, I asked the front desk to have the room cleaned, but the woman there said cleaning stops at 1pm. We’re Marriott Gold members, and this was a disappointing way to treat customers. We won’t use Marriott anymore and will stay somewhere with cleaner rooms.

For what it costs, you can do much better. The room smelled bad and wasn’t clean, and the hotel looked like it had unrepaired water leaks. It needs a lot of renovation and cleaning. Very disappointing for a Marriott.
