The Chandler Inn Bethlehem - Littleton, an Ascend Collection Hotel

Close to Cannon Ski Resort, the hotel had what we needed: a game room, pool, sauna, and 24-hour gym, plus a basic breakfast included. The staff were friendly and quickly brought extra towels to our room. I appreciated the 10 p.m. quiet time, and our teenage boys, who are pretty well behaved, weren’t hassled by staff like they have been at other hotels. All around, a nice place to stay.

Our room 315 had a useful layout, with two bedrooms and a shared area containing a table, chairs, kitchenette, and refrigerator. But noise in the bedroom with the king bed, probably from the air conditioner, affected our rest. The sound insulation is weak, and fixing that would make the stay more comfortable. We spent two days at The Chandler at White Mountains, an Ascend Collection Hotel, and had a pleasant visit overall. The room was clean, spacious, comfortable, and modern, with the amenities we needed. The staff were friendly and helpful from check-in through our questions about hotel services. Breakfast was tasty with a good selection. There’s a pool and sauna, fitness center, and kids’ playroom, which make it convenient for families. There don’t seem to be many similar hotels nearby, so it feels like a unique option. The location is handy for White Mountains attractions and shopping. A great place for families, and I’d recommend checking it out.

The room stayed warm in below-zero weather, was clean, and had good Wi-Fi, so the basics were covered. Having a sink and fridge was handy for traveling with family, and breakfast was good, though on the second morning there wasn’t a toaster. We picked this hotel for the pool, so finding out on arrival that it would be out of order for both nights was a letdown. The staff seemed stretched thin, and the bathroom sink barely had hot water. I still don’t get why hotel rooms never seem to have a clock. The pillows were huge, so I’m glad we brought our own. There was also a small arcade and a usable gym. It’s a pretty nice hotel in the middle of nowhere in New Hampshire, and the rest is mostly nitpicking.

The biggest problem was the noise from upstairs. The flooring doesn’t seem to have much insulation, and the people above us stomped around so much that we kept waking up all night. Our second-floor window also looked straight onto the main parking lot, though there’s overflow parking behind it when that lot fills up. The hallway floors squeaked a bit too. The room itself seemed newly renovated and was spacious, with plenty of towels and closet room, plus tea, coffee, and a mini fridge. The TV was just okay. Check-in and checkout were easy. Breakfast was included, but we didn’t stay for it, and we didn’t use the pool, fitness center, or game room.
