Cambria Hotel Bettendorf Quad Cities

We’ve stayed here for tournaments for years, and it’s convenient. The staff have usually been great, and we’re even members, but after this weekend I’m taking our future business to Springwood down the road and canceling the membership. Our later games were on Saturday, so I canceled Friday night online and got a confirmation. We drove in from desmoines Saturday morning and arrived to check in at 1, only to be told I wasn’t in the system. After some digging, they said we’d already checked in Friday. The cancellation had never actually gone through in their system. The manager apologized but said she couldn’t do anything except offer a free drink at the bar. I wouldn’t throw away $250, and I would have driven the two and a half hours the night before. There was no customer service here.

The pool and guest laundry are nice perks, and they can fit semi trucks and trailers if you call ahead. We’ve always found the rooms very clean, with good views, and the food is great. The atmosphere feels relaxed and inviting. The manager and staff are lovely people, always helpful and very nice.

The hot breakfast is included with the stay and is a little better than average, definitely enough. I haven’t tried the pool myself, though other people have told me good things about it. This property does Choice well, which isn’t true of every Choice hotel I’ve visited. The price is about what other hotels charge, and being close to the interstate works well for me. It’s very clean, the pillows seem newer and are absolutely wonderful, and the staff have been accommodating, polite, and professional on my several visits. If you’re in the area and want an average-priced place, I’d suggest it.

A couple of small things made the stay uncomfortable. The shower floor was so slippery that I was worried I’d fall, and the barroom also felt hazardous. The bathroom door only stays shut if you lock it, but that little lock was very hard to turn back. I was afraid my roommate would have to call maintenance to get me out; I managed with a washcloth for grip, but a child wouldn’t have been able to unlock it. There’s a coffee pot in the room, but no free coffee offered. I can’t remember another hotel that didn’t at least provide coffee.
