I booked Coastal Inn on short notice after turning a Lake Michigan day trip into a two-day getaway, and was really glad I did. My room was quiet, tucked at the back in room 12, and it was easy to get out to the grassy courtyard with my dogs. The bed was comfortable, and I slept well. A staff member told me the beds and TVs had recently been replaced. The shower had plenty of hot water and pressure, and mine was a tub-shower combo. Shampoo, conditioner, and body wash were in a dispenser. The room also had a mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker, hairdryer, shower caps, and makeup remover wipes. The courtyard had a pool, closed for the season during my visit, plus a nice fire pit area with chairs and benches. Chopped firewood was provided, along with propane and charcoal grills. There was room for kids to play or dogs to walk, and even a clothesline for drying towels or clothes. It’s a small inn, so the front desk isn’t staffed all the time, but there’s a number to call or text and they respond right away. Someone is always around the property. The lobby breakfast area has a table and a restroom, and the breakfast selection was really good for a place this size: bagels, mini waffles or pancakes, packaged hard-boiled eggs, cereal, granola, banana bread, Nutri-Grain bars, powdered donut holes, yogurt, apples, bananas, oranges, regular and chocolate milk, orange juice, coffee, tea, pebble ice, and filtered hot and cold water. We decided at the last minute to turn our fun day trip to Frankfort into an overnight, and my daughter and I had a great time. We showed up without anything for the night, but the owner offered to get us a toothbrush and toothpaste, stocked full-size shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in the room, found us a fan, and pointed out where to get other necessities cheaply. The room was adorable and spotless, and my daughter and I couldn’t stop admiring the decor. The pool was a great extra, with sunscreen, cute seating, floats, and toys. There’s also a whole setup for a nighttime campfire. We loved being able to head downstairs for a morning bagel at breakfast. Highly recommend, and we’ll be back next year!

We’d definitely stay again. It’s a cute little place, super clean, with comfortable beds and a nice breakfast. The bathroom is a bit small, but they’ve done an excellent job remodeling everything. There are all kinds of pretty places nearby to watch the sunset and get food, including a great little dairy King with wonderful ice cream. The front desk was very nice.

My check-in was after the lobby had closed, but the owners texted instructions for getting my room key from the lockbox beside the door. When I messaged the owner, he replied right away and was helpful and welcoming. The room was very clean, with updated flooring, and the bathroom was huge. There’s a large pool, though it was closed for the season. My son has a business in Beulah, and I usually stay with him, but from now on I’ll stay at Coastal Inn when I visit.

Our two-double-bed room had plenty of space, was very clean, and looked recently remodeled. It’s a nice little motel with very nice owners, and I understand they offer different room sizes and types. The bathroom was small and the shower tight, and getting the hot water right was tricky. Noise carries through the building, especially when families have rambunctious kids. The pool looked nice, though we didn’t have time to use it. The lobby and check-in area have a limited but nice breakfast.
