Hotel Beverly Terrace - Beverly Hills/West Hollywood

My first stay at a Sonder property, after being a Marriott elite member for a long time. It felt like a real boutique experience: a small, quiet place in an amazing location, with top-notch staff. The room was compact but laid out nicely. I didn’t get to try the restaurant, though it sounded lively. I liked the concept and how they carried it out, and I’ll definitely stay again.

Such a nice surprise. They fit everything we needed into a compact room, and the bed was very comfortable with lovely linens. Veronica at the front desk is a warm, one-of-a-kind person. She made us feel like we were staying in her home.

The entrance was clean and cozy, the staff were friendly, and $230 for the room seemed reasonable for the area. Valet was pricey at $30 a night. I stayed in 9/2025. I’m giving one star because I had severe bed bug bites after a single night. I should have checked the bed first, but I’d never had this happen at a Marriott-owned hotel, or anywhere else. I learned to check every time, whatever the hotel’s reputation. I usually see maybe 3-8 bites with bed bugs, but this time I had over 50. The itching lasted for days and is still bothering me as I write this. I sent the hotel photos, which show only half the bites, and waited 57 hours for a decision. They eventually issued a full refund. I’m extremely disappointed by the lasting discomfort from what I believe was their bed bug problem.

The bathroom and shower were very inadequate. The shower head broke twice because it couldn’t be moved to adjust. A man at reception fixed it the first time, but I had to deal with it myself the second time because nobody seemed to be available. The water mostly sprayed onto the opposite wall. There’s no lift to any floor. The common areas were dirty, and the hallway carpets looked worn and badly in need of cleaning. I found dirt and dust behind the beds, plus a long black hair in one of them. The air conditioning had a strong mould smell and looked like it hadn’t been cleaned for some time. They gave me a Post-it note with the room access code, a first for me. Earplugs were left by the bed, apparently for the excessive noise in the area.
